Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Managing subcontractor invoices, drafting instructions and order documents, holding meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the balance of full time work alongside a university course that I will get a degree out of when it's complete.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Developed maths and digital skills alongside learning tonnes of construction knowledge that I didn't have previously.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It's well structured as we go up to Sheffield Hallam University 4 times a year in block weeks where we attend 9:00- 17:00 lectures running through the information we need to complete our assignments. I then work full time on a live construction site aswell so that gives me real life experience in the industry and exposes me to construction life.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive lots of help from Kier through my site based team both commercially, operationally etc aswell as through my mentor and other university classmates.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive lots of support from our training provider through e-mails and talks explaining exactly what comprises the university degree and provide any useful information.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The degree is very beneficial as it provides apprentices with a more educational way of learning that we can then apply to our jobs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, Kier host Moving Through May, a charity fundraising event to encourage staff and external stakeholders to get active through the month of May
