Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work with a wide variety of people every day from colleagues to charity/good cause groups.
I coordinate booking groups into store to fundraise or hold awareness stands to highlight their groups activities, I supervise use of our meeting rooms as well as going out into the community to work alongside groups who need help. I also fundraise for our 2 national charities Tickled Pink and BBC Children in Need.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme that I completed at the end of 2025 was amazing. Being able to access this course has helped me understand my job in ways that I had not thought about before and was very easy to access no matter where I was or what I was doing. My coach and mentor on the course made all the difference as he was supportive and easy to communicate with, even though he had over 40 candidates he was working with at the same time. I have finished being a better version of myself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The main skill I have enhanced over the period of my course is to be able to focus more on what I need to do and less on what can not be achieved. Sounds a little odd but being able to prioritise the most important things that I can affect rather than stressing about things outside my control has meant that I achieve more and have raised more.

the training provider was very supportive and having teams meetings with other candidates on the course was good as we all supported each other.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support I received at all levels from Asda was amazing from fellow customer and community champions to department managers to the GSM
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider was great we had calls every month going over different modules of the course with other candidates as well as a separate monthly hour call on a one to one basis.
I could also book in ad hock calls if there was anything that I needed to verify.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This training has helped me become a far better fundraiser than I had previously been.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I attend activities outside of the work place but still during Asda's time.
This varies from group to group. Tomorrow I could be filling bags at a local food bank to serving meals at a local homeless shelter.

Why?
Colleagues at Asda are like a second family, supportive and friendly. There are jobs to suit every walk in life whether you are some one who just wants to cruse along with no ambition to move up into higher management or you want to run a store and become a GSM
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ASDA?
Be yourself, let whoever is interviewing you what you want to gain from being an Asda colleague.
