Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Project Planner, my role is to help plan and track how a project is delivered. I create and maintain schedules, work with the project team to understand what needs to be done and when, and make sure progress is clearly reported. This helps the team identify risks early and keep the project on track.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship so far. The scheme is well structured, and the colleagues I work with have been extremely supportive and welcoming. This positive environment has played a key role in helping me develop both my skills and confidence in the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed strong core skills such as teamwork, organisation, and communication by working closely with colleagues across different disciplines and supporting project delivery. Alongside this, I have developed new technical skills, particularly in the use of planning software, where I build and maintain project schedules and help track progress. These skills have strengthened my ability to contribute effectively to projects and support informed decision‑making.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship scheme is well structured, with regular monthly development sessions that focus on building a range of professional skills. I also received training on the required software shortly after joining, which enabled me to become effective in my role quickly and apply my learning in a practical setting.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support I receive from my employer is strong and ongoing. It primarily comes from my manager and the project teams I work with, who are always willing to provide guidance and support my development. This support is readily available whenever I need it and has been valuable in helping me progress in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a high level of support from my training provider through my university liaison. We have regular monthly meetings and progress reviews, and she is always available to offer guidance and support whenever I need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
At present, my training does not directly align with my current role, as I am studying construction site supervision while working mainly on pre‑construction programmes. However, I can clearly see how this learning will support my role in the future when I begin working on construction‑phase projects, particularly by improving my understanding of site activities and how individual tasks are carried out.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a wide range of extracurricular activities available to get involved in. These include numerous professional networking events, as well as social activities that take place after office days in Manchester.

Yes
Why?
Overall, I would recommend Mace Consult to a friend because of the supportive culture, well‑structured apprenticeship scheme, and the wide range of development opportunities available. The combination of strong manager and team support, high‑quality training, and exposure to real project work creates an environment where individuals are encouraged to learn, grow, and build confidence. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace Consult?
When applying, it is important to research and understand the company’s values and culture, and to reflect on how these align with your own values. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate, using real‑life examples, how they have shown these values in practice. In addition, showing a strong willingness to learn and develop is crucial, particularly for an apprenticeship role. Mace Consult values individuals who are proactive, open to feedback, and eager to build their skills, so clearly demonstrating this mindset can significantly strengthen an application.
