Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at North Bristol NHS Trust?
miserable. the company is always on a very limited budget. several people take advantage of the system and don't do their job properly or at all. supervisors and manager have their hands tied.
the workload falls on the people who work well, and they end up overwhelmed. and eventually they either start performing poorly or leave.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
food ,beverage, stock up, cleaning medical equipment, gloves restock, flushing all taps regularly, take every single patient food order for the main meals, collect all the trays and give them in time to the catering team.
I enjoy the rapport with patients, sometimes you work with good colleagues.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
1/5
in this hospital I have the feeling that main priority are medication and tablet,s prescription.
Food responsibilities are often seen as a burden that unofficially no one wants to deal with, so they fall on the housekeeper. Although this should be a team-supported task, in many departments it ends up becoming a heavy workload handled by the housekeeper, with occasional support from a few others.
Pointing it out risks no support and being treated as the problem.
there are very few exception ward with great management and great co-operation. about 4 or 5.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
2/5
28 days holidays a year, saturday pay is 1.5 and sunday pay is 1.8 more than usual salary. paid sick leave ( up to 3 every 12 months.)
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
2/5
there is no future career for my job position. but it is a great place to practice and develop your customer service skills
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
i was lucky enough to get involved into an customer service apprenticeship, government founded scheme. some departments don't allowed study days to apprentices, which is illegal. fortunately, my manager in my department is great and has always given me all the hours required by my apprenticeship contract.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
2/5
Meaningless. officially they have to support you. but has I said they are constantly looking at the budget, i don,t know why, i suspect they have some sort of bonus if they stay within the budget.
maybe they talk or they try to improve actively, you will see a dramatic improvement for 1 or 2 weeks and after that lazy staff will always find a way to go back to their (low) standard. Has I said, supervisor and managers have their hand tied, and they cannot supervise constantly.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
it is alright. i work 3 days a week for a total of 37,5 hours , this allowed me to have 4 days off a week but still get a full time salary.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Organisational culture is respectful and inclusive, values are caring, ambitious, respect and supportive.
general atmosphere it really depends from department to department and also from your communication and personal skills.
How would you rate North Bristol NHS Trust initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Maybe even to high. Some people really take advantage of it.
How would you rate North Bristol NHS Trust CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend North Bristol NHS Trust to a friend?
No
Why?
It strongly depends on the job you get. As a band 2, you'll face a heavy workload with little recognition and be almost invisible, while higher bands are likely seen as better jobs.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
2/5
Everything I wrote is purely my experience and my personal point of view.
When I applied, I knew it was a food and stock-related job, but I didn’t expect it to be a team-dependent role that’s impossible to handle alone, with the team often deliberately keeping busy to avoid helping. When you point it out, things might improve for a couple of weeks, but then revert back, or you start being seen as a problem by the supervisors.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to North Bristol NHS Trust?
it take 2 or 3 month from your application to your actual first day.
