Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my current role, I carry out a variety of HR administrative tasks such as supporting recruitment processes, coordinating onboarding and offboarding, managing incoming HR queries through the central inbox, and enrolling employees onto training courses. My day‑to‑day tasks vary depending on deadlines and business priorities, and may include updating HR policies and documents to ensure compliance with employment legislation, as well as reviewing and rebranding documentation to align with current company branding.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working with Ventrolla, as the company offers a variety of development opportunities. There are always new skills and knowledge to be gained, and as Ventrolla continues to grow, it is rewarding to see how the different departments develop alongside the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed both new and existing skills during my time at Ventrolla. I have gained a broad understanding of the products Ventrolla creates and supplies, which has helped me better support the business in my HR role. I have also developed my HR knowledge by carrying out a wider range of HR tasks than I had previously experienced.
During my apprenticeship, I often focused on tasks I was already confident with; however, at Ventrolla I have been encouraged to take on new responsibilities. Upon completion of my apprenticeship, Ventrolla gradually increased my level of responsibility, allowing me to take ownership of specific tasks, including our online HR system, Evalu‑8, for which I am the designated system champion.
When learning new tasks, I have received consistent support from my manager, and my colleagues have always been willing to help and share their knowledge. Working at Ventrolla has also significantly improved my confidence, particularly when answering telephone calls and writing professional emails — skills I was previously unsure I would ever feel confident with.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Overall, I feel my programme is well structured and organised. Expectations are clearly communicated, and the gradual introduction of new responsibilities has helped me develop my skills without feeling overwhelmed. Support is always available from my manager and colleagues, which allows me to manage my workload effectively and stay on track with both my role and programme requirements.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a strong level of support from my employer. My manager and colleagues are always approachable and willing to offer guidance when needed, particularly with new tasks. This support has helped me build confidence and develop my skills, allowing me to take on greater responsibility over time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualification. Support was available when needed, including guidance on assignments, clarification of requirements, and regular check‑ins to review my progress. Communication was clear, and I felt comfortable asking questions or requesting support whenever I was unsure. This support helped me stay on track and successfully complete my apprenticeship with confidence.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helped me perform better in my role by improving my understanding of HR processes, legislation, and best practice. I was able to apply this knowledge directly to my work, which increased my confidence and effectiveness in carrying out HR tasks.

As a family‑run business, Ventrolla also has a close‑knit and supportive culture, which is reflected in how approachable and helpful colleagues are across the organisation.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ventrolla?
I would advise applicants to have a basic understanding of what Ventrolla provides and the services the company delivers. Having an awareness of the business shows genuine interest and helps applicants understand how their role would support the organisation. I would also recommend being comfortable working in a friendly and sociable environment, as Ventrolla has a positive workplace culture where colleagues interact openly and there is a strong sense of approachability and teamwork.
