Overall Rating

3.5 /5

3.6/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Day-to-day tasks involve undertaking routine system and maintenance checks. Predominantly visual and inspection level tasks to anticipate preventative maintenance needs. Assisting the wider team with smaller office and building maintenance tasks. Record keeping and policy writing. Warehouse housekeeping
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
College course is very engaging with a wide range of subjects and excellent facilities. Day-to-day on-site can be slow, with larger periods of downtime when there are a lack of, or already completed maintenance tasks. On-the-job learning is predominantly through online exercises as the larger gaps in engineering related jobs give little hands on experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have been able to apply the knowledge from my college course and learn from my peers

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is well structured in terms of the college/work tie-in. Due to the scale of the company and management being abroad has made communication lines less efficient or delays in certain aspects
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Supports are available and easily accessible. Reasonable accommodation is given for attending the apprenticeship program
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The college and individual tutors are very supportive, often providing additional supports and materials to help completing trainings and examinations.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The skills and knowledge taught by the training provider give an excellent understanding and are invaluable when applying them in the workplace
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There are little to none. There have been some but have been for other departments in the company

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Amazon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The apprenticeship program is thorough and interesting and gives the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed. Amazon also pays generously compared to traditional apprenticeships
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
Travel to and from Amazon sites in Ireland are not well connected so I recommend getting a drivers license/car if possible
