Global Banking Spring Week Intern Review

On the first day, we began with an ice breaker to get to know everyone in the cohort, followed by a high-level overview of Global Markets and Global Banking. We also received guidance on how to network and collaborate more effectively.
The second day was highly technical, covering DCF analysis, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and accretion/dilution calculations. The content was incredibly useful and presented in a way that was easy to follow and understand.
On the third day, we were taught how to read the Financial Times critically, focusing on how to analyse articles and extract the key takeaways. We then heard from speakers across various departments within Global Banking, which helped us explore where our interests might lie.

Really valuable. Hearing from teams across Corporate Broking, TMT, DCM, and ECM gave me a much clearer picture of what each group actually does day to day. Understanding that Corporate Broking focuses on maintaining relationships with listed companies, TMT advises high growth technology and media businesses on strategic transactions, DCM helps clients raise debt financing through bond issuance, and ECM manages equity raises such as IPOs and follow-on offerings made the breadth of Global Banking feel concrete rather than abstract. It also helped me think more precisely about where I want to focus.

Absolutely. On the technical side, I strengthened my valuation skills across DCF, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions. On the softer side, I developed my ability to network with intention, learning how to hold meaningful conversations with senior professionals and make a lasting impression.

The culture was really warm and welcoming from the start. Everyone was incredibly approachable and generous with their time, and no question went unanswered. Every query, no matter how basic, was met with a thorough and thoughtful response. On a lighter note, the canteen food was genuinely a highlight!

If you are lucky enough to get through, make the most of any pre-reading material they send you beforehand and make sure you understand it thoroughly, as it forms the foundation for a lot of what you cover during the week.
