Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involved working on client design work, internal presentations and marketing materials. I created presentations, interactive pdfs and microsites for teams pitching in order to help win work for the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed my programme, and the university I worked with was extremely supportive and kept in constant contact with my manager and company to make sure I had all the help I needed at every stage.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed skills in a variety of design software such as: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects. Additionally, I learnt the ability to layout and design bespoke documents for both internal and external use.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My course ensured there was regular meetings with my manager to review my progress and to ensure I was fully supported. As I was part of one of the first cohorts to complete my course at the university as expected there were some adjustments to the modules and structure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My manager and the design team I worked in provided great support throughout my course, helping to ease my workload whenever I had an important or demanding university module due, especially during my final year. Additionally, they helped teach me the foundation knowledge in the software required for me to complete my design work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I met with my training provider every six weeks for a progress review, where we discussed my work and assessed whether I needed further support. My course offered constant tutorials and one to ones with my tutors in all of my modules and provided valuable academic guidance whilst completing my dissertation.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification helped to provide me with the skills required for my role. It taught me to use key design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects, all of which are essential for my role as a graphic designer and are tools I use everyday.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are many more professional networking and extra-curricular events tailored to apprentices as the program has become more established. There are also countless extra-curricular activities available at Savills regardless of your age.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
My apprenticeship at Savills was a great experience and provided countless opportunities to develop my skills both in design and grow professionally. I thoroughly enjoyed both my course and my role at Savills, as I received so much support when entering the workforce and while managing my studies alongside my role. I continue to receive support as I move into the next stage of my career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Make sure you proofread your applications and avoid using AI to complete your assessments, and remember to be yourself. Savills are looking for people who have character, fit their community and work well within their teams, not just great candidates.
