Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role itself is an everchanging role. The basic principles remain the same - allocating jobs for contractor attendance, overseeing completions and ensuring compliance throughout the services. However the types of jobs and the priorities vary throughout the 35-40 properties that I cover. My job is a mixture of reactive and proactive support to services and relies heavily on communications from the operational staff to ensure we are able to provide a safe and good quality space for which to care for the people we support
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme I am completing, Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor, is definitely opening my eyes to the factors that go into this role. Whether I am aware I am doing these things or I need to work on these things, it is assisting on shining a light on areas I can work on to develop myself further, and allowing me to delve further into aspects of my job which I do enjoy, such as risk assessments and people management/coordination. I also like that it doesn't take up all of my time to be able to learn. I have completed a couple of apprenticeships in the past and have also enjoyed the fact that I can do one session a month to cover a certain area, and then spend the next few weeks applying what we have covered into my day to day job which then allows it to become a more natural learning style for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I enrolled in this apprenticeship as part of my development journey within the facilities setting and I have definitely utilised this programme to enhance my confidence in my role and push myself out of my comfort zone, putting myself out there more or becoming more certain about the decisions I am making as opposed to second guessing myself or my knowledge/experience.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I have one session with the group on a monthly basis, regular checkins with my apprenticeship tutor (which also sometimes include my line manager in the office) and I know who to message if I need additional support. The structure of the programme is set out ahead of commencing and at the end of each session, we briefly speak about what the next session will cover - which allows us time to look into it ourselves if we wish to. Each session is laid out with an agenda which is clearly followed but not rushed, allowing each learner to go at their own pace and have time to ask questions if they feel they need to.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have put 4 stars purely because I don't feel as though I need much support from my employer. I know I can ask for guidance or help if I require it, but I have been in the team nearly 4 years, have been a part of training all staff and have already done these types of programmes before therefore I feel confident in myself and my abilities that I do not currently require much support other than being given the time to do the work set for me - which I do get
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Much like my previous answer, I know where to go and who to ask if I require additional support from my training provider. It is included in my regular catch ups with the tutor and I know I can contact my tutor at any time to ask questions or discuss things if I need to. I like that we have the regular check ins but that I don't feel overwhelmed with the communications - I enjoy being left to try things myself and having the option to ask for help as I go if I need it. This style of learning works better for me so I feel this suits my needs fine.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel the qualifications builds up confidence in myself to ensure I am competent in my job but also prepared for the many different outcomes that challenges can often have. I feel it is widening my working knowledge to allow me to consider different aspects and angles when making both day to day decisions but also larger decisions too (or when these arise in my future development channels). It is building the foundation now which will allow me to develop further in my career with a certain and confident approach.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I would not say there is for my department. I know that there are award shows etc both internally and externally but these are very rarely attended by the property team and if they are, it is the property SLT and not the coordinators or front line facing colleagues. As a team we try to do the occasional meal after work but we don't have much else in our team or as a company in the way of social activities. The office has bake sales for charity and coffee mornings etc sometimes too, which I always make an effort to participate in, but it isn't all the time and I feel like can be a bit awkward for the whole office as there hasn't been much team building between departments. I'm fortunate that I speak to a lot of people from different departments already, but I know that there is still not a lot of cause with which we mix together.
