Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
A planning and design professional is at the front of the process for connecting a customer to the NGED network.
We make first contact with the customer, arrange site visits, obtain information necessary to create designs and plans for the customer. Quotation packs are generated and communicated with the customer.
The customer could be a home owner, a developer, a business etc. and each would have their own requirements and needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The variety of jobs that come in, not being stuck in the office constantly, the site visits breaking up the day.
Being brought into the company along with other apprentices, being part of a group making the experience much more enjoyable and less daunting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been given the training to allow me to undertake jobs for the company. Being able to use the software and company systems to create plans and quotes.
I have also learnt so much about the power network and how important / integral it is to society.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Can't fault it, training programmes are pre setup for 14 months in advance giving ample time to prepare and organise life around it.
I have offered some feedback already to improve the timing of some training sessions to allow more time after the training to practice what has been learnt.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is second to none.
I am surrounded by colleagues who are approachable and supportive, any questions I have I can air and someone will answer. I have a mentor within depot who actively looks to improve my time here, pushing tasks my way, giving me hints and tips.
I have a training assessor who is always happy to help and run through any concerns I have with any of the training topics. A manager and team leader who are very supportive both in and outside of work. A safeguarding team who are available to contact with any non work related concerns.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Have been offered so much support when it comes to qualifications. Whether that is from the lecturers, fellow colleagues, mentors etc, all have offered their support if I become stuck.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is certainly helping me understand more about the theory behind the network, and to understand the calculations going on in the background when designing the network.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I've already been part of a number of social and sporting events, which has made joining the company that much easier as you get to know people outside of just the job.
