Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role was as a partnerships and expansion manager on our UK social impact team, for a product donations project called Multibank. This involved working with multiple charity partners each week, managing all reporting, organsising large scale summits for key stakeholders and developing expansion strategies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I loved it. I have always been passionate about sustainability and to find a programme specifically for this was amazing. I loved learning all the skills that will support me in this field, and we were assessed in a number of ways throughout the programme which really helped me develop well rounded skills. I have also really enjoyed the combination of completing this alongside my role, my manager was incredibly supportive the whole time, ensuring I had enough time to complete my studies alongside my work and this made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. I wouldn't change a thing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely, across the programme with the training provider, each of our units is a new skill, whether it be program management, budget management or managing relationships in CRS. These skills have only been enforced by my work where I've had the opportunity to put these in to practice, but I've also gained so many more skills through this hands on practice, particularly around research/data analysis and event organisation. The team I work on has opened up so many opportunities to me, and gaining a variety of experience has developed a breadth of skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
For the most part, its been amazingly structured. There was a few hiccups at the start as I had a few learning coaches which made it a bit difficult but since I had my last learning coach everything was smooth sailing. We always had plenty of time between our assignments and I think having the webinars at the start of each topic worked really well. If I had had the opportunity, it would have been great if the CRS program was rotational in Amazon as we do have separate Social and sustainability teams which it would be great to experience but I did mange to gain both experience anyway through volunteering, despite being on a social impact team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I cannot fault my manager/team. They have been unbelievably supportive, always ensuring my needs were met and accommodating my EPA when needed. We don't get any support form the apprenticeship team but I've been okay without it so it's not really a big deal for me, it might just be an issue for others.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
It couldn't have been better. My learning coach was speaking about and preparing us for EPA a year in advance. Throughout EPA she was always available to speak and also provided thorough feedback every 2 weeks on our reports which removed a lot of stress from the process.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think its definitely helped in some ways so for example I started leading my own project this year so I could start putting into practice all of the project management tools I learned in my apprenticeship. Amazon is just quite unique in the way it works though so I think I found a lot of generic tools or principals weren't necessarily as applicable? But I think for me yes, I did use a lot of the skills I learnt and even skills I picked up outside of the content, for example we did a lot of presenting in the apprenticeship which then helped with my presenting in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes! Me personally, I got involved in the Sustainable Amazonians and supported with their events and I also joined the apprenticeship committee. There are lots of other various social groups, not much sport as far as I'm aware though? I'm also part of a language learning group which is super helpful.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Amazon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has been an amazing place to work for me. I have an amazing team, a job that I really love where I get actual responsibility and a great salary.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
I'd just say do your research, ensure you know all your facts inside out before applying and for actual life in Amazon, just be open to meeting new people. I'm really bad for it but I wold absolutely recommend taking all the opportunities to network.
