Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

At E.On we rotate around different departments on placements for 6 months which means we get a wealth of experience and oportunity to find the perfect place for us once we graduate. what this means for my placement currently is the project management of a social housing estate solar panels installations to improve the epc ratings of properties.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i think the opportunity to rotate around the business has really increased my enjoyment of the programme

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

E.ON have massively boosted my opportunity for extended learning past my degree, including funding additional certificates such as a NEBOSH health and safety compliance certificate which has developed my understanding of construction management

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the structure offers close management and development from programme sponsors in year 1, and extends the reach of support thereafter as we rotate around the business into other departments. this structure allows us to get a feel for the business as a whole and establish an understanding of eon as a whole.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get lots of support from mentors, buddies (fellow Degree Apprentices) and generally the employees at eon are all very supportive of us Degree Apprentices, i am always made to feel welcome and given the support i need from our HR reprentatives as well if we ever have any problems
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

York St John have done a great job in supporting me through my end point assessment recently, lots of support from supervisors and work based learning tutors.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have a wide understanding of different project management practices from university studies, that i apply when relevant to work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We get the opportunity to take part in meals out, networking, and internal events

Why?
They are a caring employer, i really feel like they recorgnise the human in people, knowing we all have families, and lives outside of work means that i feel like E.ON is a great organisation to work for long term!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Research the business, know the difference between E.ON UK, E.ON Next, and the wider european E.ON group, and remember that they are not looking for a finished product in you, but rather they are looking for potential :-)
