Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Unrealistic deadlines and the apprenticeship teams lack of understanding of our educational commitments lead to excessive levels of stress, poor work-life balance and a feeling that I cannot make the most out of this programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Poorly organised training commitments and deadlines. Apprenticeship team who handle apprentices don't understand our workload and set unrealistic deadlines which result in working 10-12 hour days and weekends with little time outside of work and no support or recognition received about this. There a seems to be a culture where unrealistic deadlines receive priority over the wellbeing of apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend National Grid to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, National Grid remains a decent employer, there are a vast array of roles and it's a company worth being in, but there are glaring issues with the (mine at least) apprenticeships which continue to go unresolved and come at the expense of apprentices.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
Be proactive and show good a good attitude as the hiring process seems to focus on your potential over your achievements.
