Being an apprentice as a painter and decorator means working under supervision with experienced decorators to learn the skills that I required.
Preparing surfaces to a high standard, to ensure a smooth surface.
Health and safety awareness is a key part of my role.
Over time you learn to work as a team, learn to have great communication skills and to become confident to work independently.

I would say throught my apprenticeship my employer has done everything amazingly , they have made sure we received all the right training, giving us opportunity’s to do PDA competitions, snd most importantly helping us pass our apprentaship

my employer is very supportive, they will always work with you not against you, they are very understanding whenever u may have a problem weather that’s work related or personal.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have had ladder training, pasma, asbestos.
This helps us understand health and safety more on site, which helps us with our EPA.
We have Academy down in Doncaster which helped develop our skills , more so wallpaper hanging.

I would reccomend this role to anyone, it’s a remote job and it’s nice to work in different places instead of being stuck in one place for months.
The job satisfaction you feel after completing a job is like no other. And overall I just think it’s a great company to work for, they have all the best qualities. It will push you out of your comfort zone for all the right reasons.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bagnalls?
it’s okay to be scared to do certain tasks but speak up to your supervisor so that they are aware.
Stick in and youl be guaranteed a job at the end of your apprentaship, and most importantly just be yourself
