Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice we would help push along jobs including painting, wallpapering, carrying tools and equipment amongst other tasks as required depending on the job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Bagnalls offers an apprentice training academy that helps with anything we may not learn within the day to day of working. This helps us to be confident in asking questions without the pressure of finishing a job on time and to learn skills that may not be learned on most jobs.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Every skill I have acquired has been because of Bagnalls as they have a very hands on teaching approach and supervised learning within the company. I have also won a PDA award for apprentice of the year in 2025 and I believe the training and practice Bagnalls provides has majorly impacted my performance.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have good communication between the training program and branches as they both want to support each individual apprentice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We are told when we’re doing a good job and assisted when we have done something wrong. We also have a mental heath advisor and all complaints are taken seriously.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Bagnalls make sure to provide anything needed to pass our qualifications and work on areas we may be worse in.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have a much better understanding of what I’m doing within my job role as I’m building a career for myself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I have attended competitions for apprentices within the painting community as well as conventions that help promote the painting and decorating apprenticeships, informing employers and young adults about what we do and how they can start their own careers.

Why?
Bagnalls is a very inclusive company and has an excellent training program as well as a wage you can live on. They give you the opportunity to work your way up in the company and always give appreciation when deserved.

The harder you work the more you will be recognised and given the opportunities you’d like to work towards.
