Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a typical day, I monitor and maintain control systems like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and distributed control systems. I check system performance, review alarms, and troubleshoot any issues that could disrupt production.
If something goes wrong like a sensor failure, communication issue, or control fault I investigate the root cause and fix it as quickly as possible to minimize downtime. That might involve digging into code, checking network connections, or working directly with maintenance teams on the plant floor.
In sum, not one day is the same.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my job. I love the fact that not one day is the same and I always get to experience and learn new things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, mainly on site as University is very theoretical and I learn quicker when doing practical (on the job) work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship is very well structured, to allow time for learning and expanded training if I ever need it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive quite a lot of support from my employer and I think they've done an excellent job at training me and supported me when becoming qualified.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received a lot of training from my company and also some from my colleagues. As they have gone out of their way to provide extra training for me at the start of my apprenticeship to allow me to understand some of the things I would work with more commonly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Definitely.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
