Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as an apprentice Manufacturing Technician at Siemens Healthineers involves supporting the production and testing of medical equipment used in healthcare settings. Day to day, I help with assembly tasks, follow quality and safety standards, and learn how different manufacturing processes work in practice. It’s a hands-on role that’s helping me build practical skills, gain experience with advanced technology, and understand how a well-established company delivers reliable healthcare solutions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme to a great extent, as it gives me a good balance between hands-on experience and learning new technical skills. I find it rewarding to be involved in real manufacturing work and to see how what I do contributes to the wider production process. The programme has helped me build confidence, develop practical knowledge, and gain a better understanding of how the industry operates, which makes it both interesting and worthwhile.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve learnt a range of new skills and developed existing ones throughout the programme. I’ve improved my practical manufacturing skills, such as assembly of components and working with technical equipment, while also gaining a better understanding of quality standards and processes. Alongside this, I’ve developed transferable skills like problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork, which have all improved through working in a real production environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well organised and structured, with a clear balance between practical work and learning. There’s a good progression in the tasks and responsibilities I’m given, which helps me build my skills over time without feeling overwhelmed. I’ve also had consistent support and guidance, which makes it easier to understand what’s expected and stay on track throughout the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer throughout the programme. There’s always someone available to ask for help or guidance, and I’m given time to learn and develop at a steady pace. I’m also supported in building my skills and understanding, which makes it easier to grow in confidence and get the most out of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. They provide clear guidance on assignments and expectations, and are available to answer questions whenever needed. Regular check-ins and feedback help me stay on track, and the support they offer makes it easier to understand the coursework and complete my qualifications successfully.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role to a good extent. It supports the practical work I do by giving me a better understanding of the theory behind manufacturing processes and quality standards. This makes it easier to apply what I’ve learnt in real situations, improve how I work, and build my overall confidence in the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are some extra-curricular activities at work, but they are fairly limited. I think there could be more trips or events specifically for apprentices, especially ones that allow different year groups to mix and get to know each other. Activities like site visits, workshops, or social events would be a great way to build connections, share experiences, and make the apprenticeship programme feel more engaging and community-focused.

Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend Siemens Healthineers to a friend. It’s a supportive environment where you can gain hands-on experience, develop valuable skills, and be part of a company making a real impact in healthcare. The apprenticeship offers good learning opportunities and exposure to advanced technology, which makes it a worthwhile experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers?
I would advise others applying to Siemens Healthineers to show enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to get hands-on experience. Being proactive, asking questions, and being open to developing both technical and soft skills will help a lot. It also helps to have an interest in how things work and a focus on quality and safety, as these are key parts of the role. Overall, being motivated and eager to learn will make the most of the apprenticeship experience.
