Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice, my role involved working closely with global customers, supporting enquiries across different regions and time zones. I regularly handle pricing and lead‑time enquiries, ensuring customers receive accurate information promptly.
I also liaise with internal teams such as Technical, Stores, and Despatch to coordinate quotes, manage expectations, and support the overall customer experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed my apprenticeship as it gave me the opportunity to develop a wide range of new skills and build my knowledge in a real working environment. I found it rewarding being able to apply what I was learning straight away, rather than it just being theoretical.
I especially enjoyed the hands‑on aspect of the role and learning on the job, as it helped build my confidence and understanding day by day. Being able to earn a wage at the same time made it even more worthwhile, as it allowed me to gain valuable experience while progressing professionally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I studied Business at college, so my apprenticeship really helped me build on and develop those existing skills in a practical way. It allowed me to put my learning into real‑life situations and better understand how a business operates day to day.
Through my apprenticeship, I also developed strong customer service skills, which have been essential in my role. I learnt how to communicate effectively with customers, handle enquiries professionally, and support both internal teams and customers to ensure a positive experience.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I completed my apprenticeship through The Source, who provided me with a lot of support throughout. This was during lockdown, which naturally made learning more challenging at times.
However, I had regular catch‑ups with my tutor, which really helped me stay on track, talk through any difficulties, and continue developing despite the circumstances.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Why?
The people are incredible, so you get loads of support from day one. Everyone is approachable and willing to help, which makes a big difference.
The working environment is great it’s clean, well organised, and genuinely a nice place to be. You also feel valued and encouraged to develop, with plenty of opportunities to learn and progress within the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AESSEAL plc?
My advice would be to be yourself and show a willingness to learn. AESSEAL values people who are keen, proactive, and open to developing their skills, so showing enthusiasm goes a long way.
It also helps to be open‑minded and adaptable, as you’ll work with different teams and customers, often globally. Don’t be afraid to ask questions there’s a lot of support available, and people are always happy to help.
Finally, show that you care about teamwork and doing things properly. AESSEAL has strong values, and if you align with those, you’ll fit in well.
