Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am training to become an electrical engineer working on high voltage substations. Time can be spent in the office writing up reports, out on a substation site working with the equipment or away at the National Training Centre in Nottingham.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It's challenging, varied and interesting. The training is methodical and safe in its approach. Safety is the number one priority when working with such high voltages.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills working on the substations and the quality of tuition at the National Training Centre has been excellent.

There is a great team ethos at the company. People are welcoming, supportive and always willing to lend a hand. There are networking events, social activities, and sports teams if you want to get involved.

Be prepared for a challenge, make sure you are organised. National Grid goes out of its way to find the best candidates it can. If successful, you will be joining an excellent organisation.
