Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a Digital Marketing Apprentice within the Digital Marketing, Media & Commerce team at Unilever Home Care. In my role, I support the planning, execution and optimisation of social first marketing, with a strong focus on influencer marketing, paid social, content creation, and e‑commerce across key Home Care brands such as Cif, Domestos and Persil. I help deliver high‑impact, social‑first campaigns that drive awareness, engagement and commercial performance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I’ve really loved my apprenticeship because it’s given me hands on experience working on real, high impact campaigns for well known brands, while continuously developing my confidence and digital marketing skills. I feel genuinely supported and trusted with meaningful responsibility, which has made the experience both rewarding and motivating for my future career.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I’ve developed a wide range of new skills and strengthened existing ones throughout my apprenticeship. I’ve particularly grown my confidence in influencer marketing, campaign management, stakeholder communication and working with agencies, while also building practical skills in paid social, content management, e‑commerce platforms and reporting, all through hands on experience on live campaigns.

My degree directly supports my role by giving me a strong theoretical foundation that I can apply to real campaigns, helping me understand why we take certain marketing decisions, not just how we execute them. It’s improved my strategic thinking, confidence in using data and frameworks, and ability to reflect on and optimise my work, which helps me add more value day to day in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some, but I don't participate as I am not living close to the office.

I’d recommend Unilever to a friend because it offers genuinely meaningful work from day one, with the chance to work on well‑known brands and real campaigns that make an impact. The support, learning opportunities and culture make it a great place to grow professionally, while still feeling trusted, valued and encouraged to develop your own ideas.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
If I were giving tips to someone applying to Unilever, I’d say be yourself and show genuine curiosity, they really value people who are keen to learn and open to new challenges. I’d also recommend researching the brands and linking your experiences to Unilever’s values, as well as showing a willingness to take ownership and learn from feedback, as that mindset goes a long way here.
