Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
It has a 50-50 ratio of office work to physical work, some days are slow and only office based, whereas others have several different physical tasks which need completing
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
i put 3 because roughly 50% of the work I get up to is actually enjoyable, the rest is very boring or there is simply a lack of work to complete. The college part of the program in my opinion features some very poor teaching

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a number of new skills when it comes to screwing in objects, filing, manual handling and running through processes

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The apprenticeship I am currently doing is poorly structured in terms of the college work, as for the actual work, I've only been on 2 placements thus far, the first did have a very good structure and rate of progression with the work becoming progressively more challenging, whereas my current placement does not
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Same as I've stated before about how the teaching staff at the college have methods of teaching which aren't engaging, are heavily AI based and fail to cover methods of how to answer exam questions
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
So far, the work done at the college has had little to no impact on how well I can do my job at work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a number of different sports clubs/teams as well as board games and other clubs

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
No
Why?
I would say that unless the location is convenient to you and you have a strong interest in science, steer clear as the work load is very inconsistent depending on the placement that you are on, and also the training provider for this role in particular has repeatedly disappointed in a number of ways
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
Ask questions about every aspect of the role you are applying for and get as much info as they are willing to give you about working on site and the kind of training you will receive from your training provider.
