Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a multiskilled apprentice. I go out on jobs with the engineers, shadowing what they do and also helping them when they need an extra hand.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working as a multi-skilled apprentice and get plenty of help from the engineers with plenty of experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

While on site i have learned a wide variety of electrical and mechanical work and am continuing to develop that.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well organized as we switch roles throughout the year and discover different areas and what each areas does.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support and are always made sure that if we need any help we can always talk to someone.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We get reviews from HETA to make sure we are on the correct track to passing our apprenticeship and they set us work to complete to increase our knowledge overtime.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It will help a lot in industry as the more knowledge in engineering you know the more ideas and help you can do when there are problems.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Howdens provide incentives where the company spends money so all the colleagues can get out and spend time together. They also put on a go karting event to help team building.
