Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
From the University we have learnt a vast range of engineering skills and attitude's. The lecturers here have developed are professional attitude greatly with constantly drawing from examples from there past industry experience. In my half terms I have shadowed other students in higher years in there placements and have learnt a lot about the work that different areas of the business do and engineering work in general.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure was communicated well at the start of the programme and is very logical. We start of learning the basic knowledge from Uni before progressing into the workplace.

5/5
We receive a lot of support with a dedicated line manager to our apprenticeship who conducts regular reviews and we are able to go to with any problems.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The University is relatively helpful and will put in place support sessions if you fall behind/ do not understand a concept.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The first year of the degree is wide spread across engineering in the nuclear industry with 2 mechanical modules, 1 electrical and 1 nuclear. After this we specialise into mechanical or electrical and then come back together to complete the nuclear units. This supports me in the role greatly developing my knowledge in both nuclear engineering and then either electrical or mechanical.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are an extensive range of internal networking events however not a lot of out of hours events.
