Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I had to map different processes using the tool miro, some of these included the cognizant process, risk analysis and WBS process. As well as this I also looked into complaints, how and why people complain, how easy it is to complain and what types of complaints exist. There are a lot of team meetings that strengthen the relationship with your co-workers and manager. There is a lot of research and courses to complete too.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

This was a mixed exoerience, I felt as though I was provided with work that was not as challenging on some days but it is also quite difficult to have that responsibility when you're starting off. As well as this, there were certain acronyms that were hard to grasp at the start which reduced my responsibility. Once asking for more work I was provided with it and found it more challenging from then onwards.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt data literacy skills with excel. Both within projects but also during the first week - we had an excel workshop at the start of the internship to teach us general skills depending on your level as well as during projects when you need to analyse data.
As well as this, I have improved my public speaking and delivery from daily meetings to new people, presentations and attending conferences during this summer placement scheme.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

a lot! everyone was so supportive and made time to chat with me everyday. We had regular meetings on things I was confused about. If I was confused I would always pop in a chat with anyone it regards and they are always more than happy to help me during this. I found this was the same with people that I didn't know that well either, it was consistent and very helpful. Learnt a lot

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very supportive environment, kind of challenging for certain departments which pushed my comfort levels. everyone helped me greatly and I had a supportive group. Always down to have some fun too which stabilises the seriousness of the job, one of the meetings consisted of one of the managers performing a karaoke session to us and this was a massive ice breaker task which made me closer to the people i worked with.
