Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The majority of work that occurs during the day is practical work on machines, completing the required jobs and learning the fundamentals of manufacturing. The time that isn't spent doing this is typically admin work which involves planning jobs and writing up monthly reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I find the programme to be ostensibly enjoyable as I am a keen learner so the environment provided allows me to expand my realm of knowledge and give me the room to make mistakes. The one limitation I can think of is days can get quite repetitive which can allow for boredom to build up.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I entered the apprenticeship knowing nothing about manufacturing and I can quite confidently say I could produce most features on a job with minimal supervision.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme has a clear structure that has been reviewed and highlighted since I first joined. The support system is consistently available and allows me to get any help I may need.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive more than adequate amounts of support from my employer as I have had no issues whatsoever.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training providers have given me lots of support towards my qualifications and their method of teaching is very forgiving and friendly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has taught and continuously reinforced my core skills which has allowed me to consistently improve in my role over time.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many social activities and groups at work that cater towards all types of people. I myself do not associate with any of these groups.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an excellent job to learn new skills and it has a business structure that allows for people to explore the many roles available to find their place.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
Be open minded and willing to learn at all times. Most importantly be friendly as all the staff are kind and are happy to strike a conversation with you.
