I began as an apprentice in our internal finance team. My role involved accounts payable work; responding to colleagues queries regarding expenses, travel, budget management, paying invoices etc and also doing accounting task as part of our financial reporting function.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The ACA qualification we work towards is very well respected and as an apprentice you complete these in just over 4 years making exams more manageable. The workload is generally reasonable and provides a good work life balance. The people are extremely nice to work with and accommodating.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have become far more proficient in excel, i have learnt lots of technical accounting knowledge through college and work and have improved my soft skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
reasonable hours, exams spread out in a manageable way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a professional training team function who support trainees with exams such as by booking college, providing us with study leave etc. However historically there have been a number of admin issues with these areas.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Adequate resources are provided and tutors are very helpfull. They could improve by giving better feedback on mock assessments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helps to develop technical accounting knowledge however the qualification largely focuses on private sector accounting.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a number of sports teams such as a running club, netball team, tennis club and football. There are also some other events such as an annual Christmas party and film quizzes. We also have an apprentice network made of trainees who support each other through the programme. In the past this network has organised social events for apprentices.
