Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The role involves yearly placements in different areas of the business. I have worked in haircare and homecare, with roles including stability analysis, formulation and product testing. The role looks different day to day but I love that I get to see real life science and make an impact in the workplace.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme gives you an insight into lots of different areas and you get to see what you enjoy. If you enjoy something there is often freedom to explore this further. Everyone at the company is lovely and the atmosphere is very supportive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
There is lots of opportunity to develop skills and this is encouraged throughout the apprenticeship. There is various training and development opportunities to get involved in.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The work aspect of my programme is structured but the university can be a little disorganised, especially as we are online learners.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Unilever have always been a supportive employer, creating an environment for growth and development throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lecturers are usually very helpful but all work is online which can make getting in touch a little more challenging.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The more applied units are especially useful in my role. Skills like stakeholder management, regulations and COSHH are very useful and can be applied to my role. The chemistry units are less applicable as they are more general.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of clubs, networks and activities to get involved with. The population of apprentices, placement students and graduates is also really nice.
