Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked in the Group Tax team, helping with multiple projects that contributed to tax reporting and control. I worked with multiple tools on the daily, including Excel, Power BI, Sharepoint. Next to this, I attended regular meetings, contacted various stakeholders and did data analysis as well.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I oversaw a lot of the month end tax reporting that is a very important part of the financial control. Next to this, most of my projects involved working with past data or helping develop long term projects. All of this was overseen by managers as well.
Overall I was given a fair amount of responsibility with the month end reporting, but not necessarily a lot.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I improved on Excel proficiency, learnt a lot about data analysis tools such as Power BI and Power Query. Also developed my tax knowledge a lot as well.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The atmosphere and culture is the among the best that you could find. Did not have a single negative interaction with anyone from the company.
Furthermore, everyone was really friendly and helpful. It was really easy to reach out and widen your network.

Before applying always try to come up with a narrative or a story of why you are applying where there, and why they should hire you. Having relevant experience is not needed but other types of employment are really beneficial.
