Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I complete ID/background checks on Landlords and ensure we have all legal documents and safety certificates relating to their property. I take care of marketing the properties, which includes ensuring we have all the correct information on them, organising photos/floorplans and creating brochures. I also finalise agreements between the Landlord and our company regarding what we are authorised to do as an agent on behalf of the landlord and the fees paid.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Super enjoyable. I have my set tasks and responsibilities but every day gives a new challenge to overcome, no day is the same!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've learned to communicate professionally despite my shy nature. I've also had to manage my time especially when taking in large volumes of work. This involves making quick decisions, whilst still paying attention to detail and maintaining high standards.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised and structured. You attend the relevant training sessions for your role from the very beginning. Your schedule is determined with proper notice. For example, study days are already decided. If a job-related, apprenticeship-related, home-related things come up, you can always move your schedule around within reason so it is still flexible.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Very supportive. I always have someone who is ready to answer questions I have with my work or to double check some things for me. One to one meetings with my manager are relaxed, not a Q&A session, and are there for me to express concerns or share achievements, anything!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Good support. I have a timetable in advance of when I will have full day workshops with them on a specific unit. They go through questions/tasks in the assignment, giving a rough idea of what you could write, how you can write this before handing it to you. Once received, you can complete the assignment on your own through research online, you are also very welcome to contact them whenever to clarify any topics for you, or help you get a start on your work, or finalising it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
We go over a lot of the legislation behind certain processes and understand to a greater extent the impact it has on both the company, our clients, and my own professional development. My role falls within the private rented sector, but my apprenticeship covers the social sector as well. This gives me a bigger overview and helps me to understand different backgrounds, different needs better which our clients may very well have too.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, a lot of networking events. Induction is done with all the other apprentices so you get to meet everyone from your cohort and make connections as they may work in other parts of the business. Once based in an office, they often have social events for team building or celebrations such as Black History Month, Chinese New Year and also company celebrations such as Quarterly updates from different teams, meeting new people from around the whole company.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s genuinely a place where you feel supported and trusted with responsibility, which makes it easy to build confidence and find your path in the property world. As you are still at the start of your career journey, you may find during your apprenticeship that you absolutely love it, which is great. But it's also just as possible that there is a different job within the company that you feel better suited for. Savills looks out for what's best for you and you are encouraged to explore different avenues and grow professionally in a role you enjoy.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Be yourself. Savills is a company made up of real people, not robots. They value personality and authenticity. That being said, make sure you balance that with professionalism. Show who you are, but also show that you can represent the brand confidently and respectfully.
