Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role was the management of Lynx Core range and Skin Cleansing, through performance tracking and everyday upkeep, with an eye on future innovation and bringing products to market. I was also the budget manager for the brand.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the programme as it allowed me to make many friends and work with some of the best in the industry whom I have learned lots from.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My practical marketing knowledge has developed as it goes hand in hand with commercial expertise. This came from working with retailers/account managers everyday and then tracking the results to understand gaps in the market.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is fairly well structured as I got a day a week for University and studies, overall my team gave me support however there was little support from the actual Unilever Future Careers team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I received great support from my line manager however little from Unilever's apprenticeship team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Yes I was supported by LSBU but it depended on the lecturer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has allowed me to see from a theory perspective, the work I do everyday. Especially in my new role which takes greater account of insights for future projects.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there was a football 5 a side to get involved with, which evolved into a charity match. And plenty of gatherings after a thursday working day which allowed me to network with my peers.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I recommend Unilever as there is a network and structure in place for apprentices who are set up to become treasured members of teams within the company. There is scope to take on lots of responsibility which expediates learning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Research the company, understand what makes it one of the largest FMCGs in the world and use this knowledge to familiarise yourself when applying and doing interviews.
