Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I did some market research on our competitors and combined this into an excel data sheet to provide insight. I also did some analysis on small business sales data to create presentation slides to tell the story about the data and see what recommendations need to be made to drive future sales. I also had meetings with my colleagues and superiors to receive feedback and evaluate my progress. I would also document my work so that I can refer back to it if required.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given the opportunity to reach out and communicate with key stakeholders to improve my commercial knowledge. The manager offered support however he also allowed me to take full control of the project and decide on what information and data was required to make progress. I was also heavily engaged with the Sales team where I organised weekly meetings to discuss the progress of the project and see what needs to be improved about the project.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my excel skills to a level where I can summarize a large data set and provide insight on it. I have developed my project management skills to meet the requirements of the client and deliver the solution with efficiency. I have also improved my commercial knowledge of the energy market which has allowed me to appreciate and understand it more. I have improved my stakeholder management skills to manage all my key contacts and refer to them for support.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had a lot of support from my colleagues who offered constant feedback through Teams and in person. I constantly sent my work to them to see what needs improved and also highlight my strong points. I had weekly catch up calls with my buddy who made recommendations on people to contact and what course of action I should take to progress. They would also not give me the answer but allow me to be pushed towards achieving my goals through my own actions.
