Commercial & Marketing Intern Review

Producing content for Centrica Business Solutions such as short videos to be produced on social media or writing, assisting with and publishing blog content produced on the website. My day to day role varied as I was assigned multiple different tasks but included a lot of communication within my team as well as sitting in on important meetings about content produced. I completed competitor analysis as well as used tools such as google analytics and Excel to analyse the performance of content.

I was given quite a lot of responsibilities but despite this my team was always there to assist whenever I became stuck or needed help. Due to this I was able to work independently and try to figure things out for myself with the knowledge that I could reach out to my team if need be. Responsibilities such as being given the creative freedom to produce videos and content on the website and completing an important spreadsheet which would be used to dictate the future of some written content.

I have learnt many new skills as well as being given the opportunity to develop on many existing skills. Time management and organisation was crucial to my role as I would have multiple different projects on the go at once so prioritising was very important. Improving already existing communication skills as well as learning how to communicate in a corporate environment. How to use some digital tools I had never learnt before as well as using the digital workspace which was a new experience for me.

I felt consistently supported throughout my internship. My team was always available and readily willing to listen and help. The early careers support team who made it clear they were there for us if we ever needed to reach out whether it be work related or not. We were also given an environment as interns to be able to become close friends which meant I knew I could always rely on them for support and talk to them about what I'm up to.

The company's culture and atmosphere was always very friendly. Centrica takes their 5 values of care, delivery, agility, courage and collaboration very seriously and apply them to everything they do. Not only this but everyone I have met within the company also adhere to these values making the general working environment a great place to be. People are always willing to have a conversation with you and I have never felt I can't reach out to anyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Centrica so much so that I even wish to come back to work on the graduate programme. I think the wide range of job opportunities as well as the environment as a whole makes it a great place to work and want to come back to. I find everyone very friendly and welcoming. Their efforts with working toward sustainability and inclusion align with my personal values meaning I would be proud to work here.
