Commercial Analyst Summer Placement Review

I Worked within British Gas Energy in the energy planning team on an analysis and improvement of a customer losses model. Used linear regression model in excel to improve accuracy of forecast of losses. Shadowed meetings in pricing, props and sales to understand how decisions get made within the team and weekly tracking of BGE performance. Organised charity events for Honeypot Children's Charity including Fun Run, charity stall and a company wide cook book.

Yes I was given responsibility to improve the losses model and give suggestions back to the my team and the manager of Pricing, Props and Sales team on how they should forecast customer losses in their upcoming GFF3 plan

Learnt how to use Excel comprehensively as analytical skills and have a greater understanding of statistics, modelling and types of forecasting. Much better understanding of energy market and I have improved my understanding of how an energy business runs. I also improved my presentation and professional communication skills.

Yes I received a lot of support from people within my team (they answered all my silly questions to help me understand what the company does, the market and the model I was working on). I also received lots of support from recruitment as well as the grads on the analyst stream in understanding the wider company as well as further excel and power BI training.

Very good atmosphere. Lovely people all round which really helped me to develop further due to their willingness to support me throughout the placement
