Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day-to-day basis my role varies. As the apprenticeship is tailored to some degree to how you want it to be. So i will work on Brand Innovations (New product development) as well as working on other tasks such as prototyping.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed the programme as it has let me grow and develop as well as allowed me to get involved in Job roles that i never thought I would have an interest in. I have particularly enjoyed being able to tailor some of my work to what I enjoy.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have definitely developed my confidence and communication skills since joining the team. This has drastically improved my ability to work and ability to talk to people both inside and outside of the company.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a rotation plan set in place around where you will go in the apprenticeship. Typically, you will rotate around your team every 6 months, getting to experience different roles and responsibilities to get a full overview of your team activities.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

You will receive a lot of support from the team, and any issues will be dealt with quickly. Whether you are having trouble getting time for University work or need to prioritise work plans, it is always the team's priority to ensure you enjoy the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They will always offer you the opportunities to help you grow and develop, the way the apprenticeship is set up is you get out what you put in. So in each rotation will often align with university project needs as well as the needs of the projects you are working on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification through the university has allowed me to think more deeply about what we need to do with packaging. Not all the topics they discuss will be relevant as you will learn a lot from just being in the team. But they do provide insight into specific aspects of packaging that I have taken forward to the team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are clubs available such as Rock climbing, walking, chess, and choir. However I do not personally attend any of these.

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has allowed me to grow and develop massively since joining from Sixth form. It is definitely an experience which has helped make me the person I am today, so I would highly recommend to anyone!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
I would say you get what you put in so although they do provide you opportunities. It is always best to speak up and ask for specific opportunities you want, as i have known some Apprentices to get placements in completely different teams as they realised they wanted to learn more about a specific aspect. As long as it benefits yourself and the tea,m they are happy to accommodate you.
