Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Supported the internal audit team, performing analysis of data, attending various audit meetings and interviews, and constructing various user guides for new starters
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given real responsibilities from day 1, although most of my work was double checked, it featured in real audit reports and meetings, and my user guides have been integrated into the audit work pack

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Learnt how to use workday and power BI, as well as developed excel skills. Developed team working skills as well as commercial awareness by operating within the office in a professional environment. Also advanced teamwork and leadership skills as well as my written communication and negotiation skills.

My manager and others within the team supported me throughout the whole process, encouraging me to perform to the best of my ability, and controlling my workload so that I never worked under or over my capacity.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was really nice and friendly, as well as super happy to answer any and all questions I had. I really enjoyed the flexible working environment, operating from within the office or from home as desired.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed the work, especially knowing the direct positive impact it will have within the business and with customers. I also enjoyed the support that was offered towards fundraising and volunteering for our selected charities.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
Make sure you apply for a stream you want to work in, get involved as soon as possible, never say no. Try and network as much as possible and make sure to socialise with the other interns and grads as much as you can.
