Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am part of the claims team, where I help manage and process claims. I am learning how to handle a case from the initial notification all the way through to settlement, gaining exposure to every stage of the claims lifecycle. As part of my role, I regularly visit external parties such as underwriters, surveyors, and other key stakeholders alongside my team, which helps me build industry knowledge and develop my professional network. I also benefit from one dedicated study day each week to focus on the coursework and requirements of my apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme because it gives me a great work–life balance. My team are genuinely lovely to work with, and I feel supported every day. I’m learning a lot, growing in confidence, and really developing both my professional skills and understanding of the industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a wide range of professional skills, including effective time management, clear communication, and confidence in working within a fast‑paced claims environment. I’ve also learnt how to prioritise tasks, stay organised, and maintain professionalism when supporting clients and colleagues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeship programme is very well organised and structured. There are clear deadlines and timelines set out from the start, with regular check‑ins from skills coaches to keep everything on track. There are also plenty of resources available 24/7, which makes it easy to stay supported and manage the workload effectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I never feel pressured, and I always feel comfortable asking questions or asking for help when I need it. The team is encouraging, understanding, and genuinely wants me to do well, which makes me feel supported and happy coming to work every day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider. You can work independently, but whenever you need help, your skills coach is always available. There’s also a general support email you can contact for questions, and they respond quickly. On top of that, there are lots of resources available, which makes it easy to get guidance whenever you need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra‑curricular activities to get involved in. We have great networking opportunities through the Early Careers team, Empower development, and within individual teams. There’s also a netball team you can join, along with regular social and professional events that help you meet new people and build connections.

Yes
Why?
I would highly recommend working at WTW because the people and work culture are genuinely supportive, collaborative, and welcoming. From day one, you feel encouraged to learn, grow, and ask questions without any pressure. The teams are friendly, the environment is positive, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop both professionally and personally. It’s a place where you feel valued and enjoy coming to work every day.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
My advice for anyone applying to WTW is to be yourself and let your genuine personality come through. Make sure you understand the company, its values, and how they align with you. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions during the process as it shows curiosity and enthusiasm. Networking is also really valuable, so take opportunities to connect with people across the business to learn more about the culture and different career paths.
