Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to provide an excellent standard of care to children between the ages of 0-5 years. I participate in teaching the children and providing dignifying intimate care routines.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my job and the support that I have received as an apprentice. I prefer working in the rooms, than to coursework but I understand that I need to do the coursework to improve my practice.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so many skills to do with the childcare and education sector, as well as, many transferable skills which can be used in any other job role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I work Monday to Friday on different shifts every week, but I don't get a lot of time out per week to do coursework so that has to be done on the weekends during my own time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is lovely and they have given me so much support to continue my apprenticeship. They celebrate my wins and have helped me through rough times, I am happy to work for them and hopefully I will continue to get some support after my apprenticeship is finished.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They provide me with a learning platform where I can complete off the job work to better my practice. I have also received support and training from my development coach which has helped me to become more confident in my job role as well as my written work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It teaches me the right and wrong things to do in the childcare sector, as well as, how to provide the best standard of care possible. It ensures that I understand the theories behind the pedagogy's and the other things we do to support children.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have group meals or nights out occasionally and I try to go, but we don't have any other extra-curricular activities available to us.

Would you recommend Busy Bees Childcare to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are an amazing global company and have provided me with so much support for me to complete my apprenticeship. They are also ensuring that I have a job when my apprenticeship is finished which will mean that I can stay working until I decide I would like a change. However, due to being a global company, I can transfer to a different nursery wherever I would like (providing they need another member of staff).
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Busy Bees Childcare?
Be yourself, and show your passion for caring for children and young people. They want to know you as a person to know if you will be the right fit for their company/centre. Show that you are kind and caring in your interview and make sure that you know a bit about the company (as that is a question that they will ask).
