Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My time as a marketing apprenticeship was split into three. 50% of my time was actioning Marketing Executive/ assistant duties, 30% Events and 20% Study time.
So my day-to-day tasks were varied. Primarily I'd be completing administrative tasks for the marketing team. I also conducted a lot of desk research for various marketing managers and the senior events manager.
I was also involved in content creation for social media posts for certain products, and helped implement digital marketing campaigns for our marketing managers too.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed the programme.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a great place to work, full of really talented, and kind people. Plus, my apprenticeship provider, Cambridge Marketing College, provided me with the resources and content I needed to grow professionally, and build my marketing knowledge.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Loads, too many to list.
My communication skills have improved, specifically my presenting skills. During this role I've presented to colleagues, senior members of staff and of course my examiner during my assessment.
My organisational skills have also improved, and I've got better at time management and prioritising tasks to ensure things do not get missed, and completed on time.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship was really well organised.
The content was split into Quarters with weekly content for me to cover. And as mentioned, my time was split across different roles to ensure I had enough time to cover my course's materials, and do my job to the best of my ability.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received lots of support from my employer. My colleagues were really helpful and if I had any questions they were happy to help.
My manager was always approachable, and if there was ever an issue, I was fully able to talk to him about it.
We also had a quarterly apprentice meeting, where apprentices from across the organisation would meet, and sit with a member of our HR team to talk through how our individual programmes were going and share any learnings or challenges. Which I really appreciated.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Plenty of support. I had a monthly meeting with my tutor from the college, as well as quarterly check-ins with the Cambridge Marketing college welfare team.
All of my resources were accessible online via the learning zone, and my tutor was open to being contacted via email if I had any questions, or concerns.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel the qualification really benefitted me to perform better in my role. A lot of the theory that I was covering coincidentally would start becoming applicable to my day-to-day job. Even things that weren't immediately relevant helped in the long term.
It was especially cool, when you could put into practice the thing you'd just learned on the course. Personally this happened when covering content creation, I was instantly able to put theory into practice planning and writing social media posts for our prodcuts.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have team days that include social activities, we're encouraged to start/ find our own communities within the organisation, and there are multiple slack channels for people with different interests, like board games, football, video games, films, pets, etc
We're encouraged to attend professional networking events, which we can do as part of our CPD.
I'm also in the process of looking to start a 5 a side team within the organisation.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Raspberry Pi Foundation to a friend?
Yes
Why?
So many reasons:
• The job is meaningful and feels rewarding.
• The people and culture of the organisation are amazing - for a global company of around 200 people there isn't that typical office politics. Everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed and wants to help each other out.
• You'll likely work on a diverse range of products and initiatives. And even if you focus on one product you'll cover a lot of different things. Meaning your day-to-day will likely be varied and not overly repetitive.
• The work benefits are really good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Raspberry Pi Foundation?
I would say do your research (the Raspberry Pi Foundation doesn't sell the Pi computers). Show your enthusiasm and drive to work hard, and that you're committed to the role you're applying.
