Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to Day, being a degree apprentice has been great. Once a week I attend University, and the other 4 I work as part of a team of engineers. In this team I assist with scheme design, CAD drawings, technical surveys and legal document reviews etc. This has been a great role to learn engineering principles, both at university and in the workplace.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme, it works really well for me and enables me to constantly learn new things, avoiding repetitiveness and boredom. I am also surrounded by lovely individuals in the workplace and t university, making it a positive environment for all.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have done both, many things I've learnt in the workplace I had to learn from scratch. I was able to take initiative and teach myself a lot of things using company and university resources, while getting intensive training from other staff members. Basic existing skills have definitely developed as they've helped the speed I've learnt new things.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is a rigid 1 day a week release to university, 4 days at work a week. During holidays that shifts to 5 days at work. This is fairly well structured, sometimes there are last minute changes with university timetables but that is unavoidable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
At work I get great support from multiple people, no matter how important or busy they are.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My university supports me by: uploading extensive material of the course modules online, lecturer's respond right away to any and all questions via email, or you can simply ask the after class.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Doing my degree has helped me in my job role by giving me general knowledge and understanding of civil engineering. However, my job role is a tad more specialized, meaning some topics I cover at university will never be used at work. This is not a bad thing, I believe this broader knowledge can definitely help with understanding multidisciplinary schemes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are many extra-curricular activities at work, however I have not attended yet due clashes with my non-work extra-curriculars.
