Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is primarily based within the Communications and Engagement team, while also providing support to teams including traffic and parking. I focus on producing evidence-led insights across a wide variety of client projects. A key part of my work involves developing dashboards and analysing datasets provided by local authorities across the UK.
In addition to my data specialism, I have led and managed stakeholder engagement activities, developed engagement plans and initiatives, and acted as a main point of contact for both clients and members of the public, alongside supporting a range of other communication and engagement tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am also currently undertaking a Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Level 7) apprenticeship with a specialism in data analytics. This programme has allowed me to further expand on my leadership skills putting into perspective my role within organisation enabling me to make business-critical decisions to ensure I remain at the cutting edge of technology. It will also support my ability to use data to inform decision-making, helping better understand patterns, performance, and opportunities for improvement.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since joining PCL, I have taken ownership of data analysis, working with large datasets containing hundreds of variables. This has involved interpreting complex information, identifying key trends and insights, and presenting findings in a clear and accessible way to support project decision-making. I have been able to develop my skills in this role and take on a key position within the organisation across multiple departments.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The modules I am undertaking as part of my apprenticeship have been very organised to allow me to both study and work at the same time. There is some balance required at time but as long as your pre-plan you can make things work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have regular check-ins with both my line manager, careers coordinator and university tutor.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
QA (training provider) have provided a tutor who I have regular check-ins with as part of my degree apprenticeship. There was an initial period where the information was 'overwhelming' but this wear off as soon as you are settled in your programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The modules I am currently undertaking have been highly relevant to day-to-day working practices, not only within my own role but across the wider organisation. They have helped me better understand the broader organisational context, enabling me to contribute more effectively to discussions and support the implementation of business-wide changes to improve efficiency.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Within Marstons / PCL there is plenty to get involved in depending on your tastes!
