Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently an apprentice quantity surveyor. On a day-to-day basis, I am involved in producing the tender prices for a wide range of different types of construction projects for numerous construction companies, involving clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme as I am provided with the opportunity to expand my knowledge in a variety of construction projects. Appropriate assistance is always available when required and the workplace environment is enjoyable to be in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In terms of my practical skills, I joined without any experience in Quantity Surveying but after the numerous years I have been here, I have developed these skills immensely. I have managed to gain a greater understanding of excel and other software involved within my day-to-day tasks, and my knowledge in terms of the different technologies and materials involved within construction has greatly increased. I have also been able build on my communication skills in a professional sense through working with clients on a daily basis, whether it be through managing information or providing and receiving feedback on work.

I feel that my training provider does a good job with helping me perform in my role as it presents me with the opportunity to learn a bit more about what may be involved with hat I do at work on a day to day basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, sports social Wednesdays. Quarterly team events. Team lunches on Fridays.
