Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role as a procurement apprentice, I support the management and review of consultancy contracts, ensuring they remain compliant and up to date, helping onboard new suppliers by coordinating with legal and other internal teams to make sure all documentation and processes are correctly followed. I'm also involved in various projects such as request for information (RFI) projects where I research and analyse the market to identify suitable suppliers, gather their contact details, and evaluate the bids they submit to help select the best options.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship — the balance between work and study feels very manageable, especially with the support I get from my course tutors, colleagues, and line manager. I like being able to take what I’m learning and put it into practice straight away, and it’s motivating to see myself growing in confidence and capability as I apply my skills in real work situations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Contract & project management, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, organisation and time management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My apprenticeship is really well structured because it gives me a balanced mix of hands‑on procurement experience and guided learning. The way it’s organised makes it easy to apply what I learn in real time — for example, completing RFIs, doing market analysis, reviewing contracts, and working with internal teams all directly support the theory I study. The structure also exposes me to different stages of the procurement cycle, from supplier identification and evaluation to onboarding and contract management, so I’m building my skills in a logical, step‑by‑step way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a high level of support from my line manager, who is always approachable, provides guidance when I need it, and regularly checks in to help me develop my skills and stay confident in my apprenticeship and also day-to-day tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I’ve received a lot of support throughout my apprenticeship, whether it’s from my tutor or my learning and development coach. I always feel comfortable reaching out with questions or queries, and I get swift, helpful responses every time. The whole process has been very clear, friendly, and supportive, which has made it much easier for me to stay confident and progress well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification really enhances my ability to perform my job role because it gives me the theoretical knowledge that sits behind the practical tasks I do every day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I’ve attended a number of events and meetings through the Early Careers Network at WTW as well as extra‑curricular sessions from my training provider. They’ve given me opportunities to network with other apprentices and professionals, raise any concerns, and build additional skills outside of my day‑to‑day role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend WTW to a friend because it’s a supportive and rewarding place to grow. The culture is friendly and inclusive, and I’ve felt welcomed from day one. There are so many opportunities to learn and get involved — from the Early Careers Network to development sessions and supplier‑facing work — and I’ve always had guidance from colleagues, managers, and my training providers. The balance between real responsibility and structured support makes it a great environment for anyone starting their career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
I’d say you can never prepare too much — take the time to research the history of WTW, understand what the company does, and think through the types of questions you might be asked. Using the STAR method is incredibly helpful for structuring interview answers clearly and confidently. It also helps to stand out and show what makes you different, because WTW is a large and competitive company. Most importantly, be confident in yourself and your experiences — confidence goes a long way in making a positive impression.
