I enable the business to deliver high performance through understanding and improving the capability of the functions I partner in the medium to long term. I am a true expert in corporate learning inside and outside of Asda, I relentlessly evaluate to simplify the experience and improve the offer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme allows me the flexibility to learn whilst on the job, and develop my skills and further my career in a key area of the business and for my own development.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt lots of new skills building on from a previous apprenticeship I did with my employer, looking and utilising current learning / People models to further develop my knowledge and skill base.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured with weekly digital modules to complete, and CPD questions to follow reflecting on learning practices and how the learning has been applied in my role. Additionally, every month offering additional webinars and discussion points to reflect on key people practices.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is amazing at communicating what they're working on and offering support. They do a biannual survey to all apprentices and the line managers to check in on our progress and how we're feeling, with quarterly newsletters showcasing what's going on and coming up, including celebrating those who's recently achieved and sending out a badge and an acknowledgment letter - can't wait for mine! The team are so knowledgeable and approachable with any questions throughout the initial process, during your apprenticeship programme to ensure we as apprentices get the best programme of learning to suit us and the business ROI.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The TP provide various elements of support through the PDE's / Coaches. During regular 1-1's we can use them to discuss key topics, have a coaching conversation on a work problem or to upskill on a particular topic! truly beneficial. The overall organisation have been great too, with queries along the way, or adapting content for my colourblindness!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification, Training Provider will support me to ensure when creating learning and supporting the business through a consultation approach to ensure I'm bringing the external L&D market internally, to ensure we're at the front of L&D People Practices.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I'm very activitly involved in being active and healthy. Alongside being a key volunteer for Asda's charity work. I'm also apart of the CIPD Senior Practitioners Community network.

Why?
The apprenticeship offer, is amazing. there's so many programmes available from technical and behavioural for our various roles across the business.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ASDA?
The business isn't just a place of work, it's a culture, and a place where you can have a career for life. Immerse yourself in retail, the customer is king/queen - we wouldn't be here without them.
