Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

It first started with mainly compliance based jobs such as preparing tax returns for sole traders and individuals, checking PAYE coding notices, 60 day CGT returns. As I had been here a bit longer I started to look at more complex returns and got more involved with some advisory things.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The training and support I have received has really helped me along my programme and everyone is keen to help.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my professional skills as well as personal skills whilst working at JCK. As it was my first professional job I have felt like it has taught me what to expect in a professional environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the start of my programme it was a bit unstructured with people not booking me onto the correct courses delaying some study time however as the programme has progressed there is more structure and I know what I am doing and when I am doing it.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The study days have been really beneficial as well as being surrounded by people who are happy to help has been really beneficial.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider does not get involved with any of the professional exams and have never asked whether there is any additional support they could offer however the college provider has been brilliant and always offer additional support.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn a lot of stuff at college when studying for the exams that I wouldn't learn on the job and this helps me use it in my day to day job and know how to apply it to different situations.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Every office has a social committee that organises different events for each office, there are firm wide events that get organised as well as the summer and Christmas parties.
