Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is really interesting - we rotate around the business on placements every 6 months providing me with experience in many different areas, and allowing me to find an area I am really passionate about. At the moment, I am in the design team working on CAD related projects go do with heat pump systems.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It can be very interesting, dependent on the project, but being a part of real projects is a very exciting opportunity. Balancing uni and work can be challenging, but I am passionate about the subject.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned a lot of new soft skills surrounding business conduct. Also some hard skills such as new CAD platforms, new maths skills and the application of that in a business environment, communication skills through contacting clients and suppliers, as well as communicating with peers.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have consistent reviews of progress, with our mid and end point reviews, however it varies based on placement manager. Work provided yet again depends on which team you are based in, and how involved the person responsible for your workload is, but 9 times out of ten there are no issues.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

EON are fantastic for support. We have many different venues for accessing support - placement and line managers, the buddy system, early careers team, but also everyone working there is very friendly and always puts time aside to help when needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We get provided a day a week for dedicated study, and through communication this can be changed based on varying workloads. Consistent communication allows for my needs to be met throughout my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

At the moment, baring in mind we are only 6 month into the course, there isnt a lot of crossover. Baring in mind our job changes consistently with the placements, this wont always be the case. However, EON always try to pin our placements to match what we are studying at uni.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I believe so, however I don't personally attend. I havent heard a lot about these opportunities, but then again I havent really searched for them thoroughly

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The culture at EON is very supportive and friendly - it is a place you want to show up to work. The placement rotation is fantastic giving me a wide variety of opportunities in the business, and testing my networking abilities to go out and find those opportunities. The benefits and pension plan is amazing, the salary is fair for our role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Be yourself. DO not try to be the perfect candidate, show real passion and your genuine goals and beliefs, they will see through a fake persona.
