Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On a day-to-day basis, I gain a better understanding of the work my team does. I work on a project given to me by my manager where I am able to add value to the team. I work on my intern investment pitch presentation. I also attend intern sessions on different business areas. Through this, I am able to regularly interact with the other interns and meet new people across the business.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. I was given a project in my team where I am able to add value to the team, which is really rewarding. I am also able to set goals with my manager and think of tangible ways to achieve this. This has allowed me to feel that I have autonomy over what I want to achieve throughout the internship.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my prioritisation and time management skills by juggling the different tasks given to me. I have learned about the role of my team and how they operate. I have developed my networking skills and broadened my understanding of the business in general. I have also developed my self-confidence through recognising my strengths and my ability to be adaptable to different situations.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have received a lot support throughout the internship. The three days of induction made me feel prepared. I felt supported by my line manager, fellow interns, programme leader and mentor. There were plenty of opportunities for reflection and I was able to ask questions throughout. I was also able to reach out and speak to a number of people across the business who were all willing to provide support and guidance.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was really friendly and welcoming. There were many social events and activities. I particularly enjoyed the Legit Network events, such as the Culture Club. These were informative and allowed space for networking.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement. I really felt that was able to make the most of the opportunity. The more I put into the role, the more I felt that I was getting back. I had a variety of things to work on which made it a really interesting and diverse experience. Everybody was very friendly and welcoming. It definitely exceeded expectations, and I would be interested in returning to the company.

What advice would you give to others applying to Legal & General
Try and get in touch with someone who works there to get a feel for the company culture. It is genuinely a very friendly and nice place to work. Also do your homework and try and showcase how much you know about the company.
