Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice quantity surveyor, I support valuation of project, subcontract progress and measuring of change, I support procurement activities including subcontract enquires and tender reviews. I contribute to all commercial tasks and I support project wide level of safety and undertake observations on a daily basis. I call sub contractors and keep on track of packages.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am enjoying it so far. I have learnt a lot about this job and I have grown in confidence as well, doing a lot of things I wouldn't have been able to do 5 months ago. I have a lot of support from my line manager, my colleagues and the emerging talent team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have. I have gained more confidence in speaking to people above me, being able to communicate efficiently to sub contractors and my managers. I am able to use Microsoft excel efficiently for my job and make spreadsheets.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
At first, there wasn't really any structure, it was confusing as I didn't have much work to do. There was training to complete and that's it. My line manager was very busy so didn't really focus on me. However after 2 months, things picked up and it became more structured and there was more focus on me to help me develop and give me tasks to do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support system here is amazing. I have support from multiple people. From my line manager, emerging talent team, the people I work with. the university I study with. I also have a buddy and mentor at work who help me whenever I reach out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Good support. It's a bit difficult since I only go university once every 3 months.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I only started university recently, but it has helped with using Microsoft apps, that I need to use regulary at my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are networking events and different networks I can join.
