Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a commercial trainee I am site based. I handle subcontract packages ensuing we are achieving the best rate and following the agreed costs and regulations within the contract. I also work closely with the design team and the client to ensure all works are running on time and on budget.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

This programme is very beneficial. I am constantly learning and upskilling during my day-to-day role, training and mentoring as well as my university course at Sheffield Hallam.

Definitely! I have massively grown my confidence, determination as well as construction knowledge. The support for development at Kier is unmatched.

Having block weeks at Sheffield Hallam is very beneficial as it means you can learn full on during that week and then apply it to the work place and vise versa. The assignments are impactful and interesting and have supported my growth within the business and academically. The support from Kier is very good and they ensure you are achieving your goals and academia.

Kier offers rotations. I have tried Planning, Estimating, Frameworks and Social Value. This helps me develop my understanding of the business and industry as a whole. It has also helped with my confidence and networking.
