Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I provide critical support in the contracting, review, and procurement processes for the commercial wing function within Airbus. Operating at a high level of operational clearance and educating myself on functional skills as well as soft skills that I can carry forward
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's perfect for me, the regular trips (and expenses) to Aston university are a highlight, but I love working within a team and earning money while I do so.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have gone on negotiations training, as well as further trainings in understanding procurement processes and contracting skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
We have three educational leaders: a placement manager, a target area organiser, and an early careers manager. This gives us a tripartite method of support, where each business area we find ourselves in as apprentices can give us a catered level of support
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am provided with benefits such as expense accounts and regular trips out of the country. I also have excellent remote working opportunities and a chance to relax with a half day Friday every week.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have a 20% weekly allotment of time towards our university studies, however more can be completed in our own time. This gives us an adequate amount of time to focus on the true meat of the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The focus on actual operational processes such as warehousing and the overall supply chain provide great visibility on HOW the company I operate within works. Rather than just the "what" of what we do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have football teams that meet once a week, I play Padel with my colleagues every Tuesday, we have a great early careers social life (GenA) with whom we do regular events such as ice skating and pub crawls

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This is an absolutely fantastic place to work, the salary is extremely competitive, the hours are very positive considering this compensation, the social life is A* and I couldn't think of another employer I would rather do my apprenticeship with
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
Make sure you're honest! Truth and experience goes a lot further than just looking good in the interview, and everyone here is very intelligent and can tell when someone is being dishonest. Good luck!
