Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
How much support do you receive from your employer?
In addition to having access to full company benefits (24hr GP and Counselling), I have an Early Careers Manager, a Placement Manager, and a University Tutor.
The EC manager is my line manager however my placement manager will monitor my work flow and be my day-to-day contact. My university tutor is available to me in uni working hours and supports my academic performance, tuition and any concerns I have. The EC manager liaises with my uni tutor and my placement manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
We also have weekly online check-ins (outside of our uni release day) for a wellness and progress touch base.
I personally have not needed support from uni however I know who and how I would contact someone to seek support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
LearningHub - Education outreach through careers fairs, careers talks, mock interviewing, site tours, workshops with local primary/secondary schools, colleges and universities.
We are encouraged to get involved with as much of this as possible provided our placement managers and academic standards are happy for us to participate.
(GenA socials and sports are out of working hours)
All other extra-curricular activities are within working hours and expenses can be charged back to Early Careers.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Why?
The job security at the end of the programme.
You are supported throughout the programme.
You get paid and have no uni debt.
You work with like-minded people to achieve a common goal, it feels rewarding.
The company perks such as 24hrGP and company pension (from age 19)/shares are financially beneficial.
The area (Cheshire/Flintshire) is a nice place to relocate to and live in.
